Your problem can be solved if the government makes them do an annual test to ensure they are on the right track.

If part of the point of it is to avoid government indoctrination, that can defeat the purpose. They try a middle ground here, where you have to show "proofs" that they've been doing actual schoolwork (in some states at least), but that can be pretty easily fabricated, and I've seen it happen.

I'm a teacher and researcher at a private institution and it is shocking how the dutch education system has been raped by government socialists. In particular maths education has been gutted in favor of having kids pass.

Dutch kids used to be 5th place in the world maths ranking (TIMSS 1995), right up there with japan and hong kong. Now they're 19th. Moreover the institute that caused this (Freudenthal) is now exporting our education reform to the US (Realistic Maths Education) and other countries.

The only hope is that we can somehow break free from the govt stranglehold on education that is making it less efficient and more expensive.

In my experience "homeschooling" isn't actually homeschooling. They just send their kids to be taught at a school with other "homeschooled" kids.

What I'm hinting at is the possibility of the ethnic distribution of homeschoolers being significantly different from public schooling.
This would imply that homeschoolers on average perform well not because homeschooling is good, but because you're looking at a sample free of underperforming individuals.

yea, this can be an advantage though, my father taught biology and anatomy and physiology as he is a doctor, one of the fathers was a chemist for an ivy league university so he taught chemistry and math. one of the mothers was an english professor. They made a conglomerate "school" without social indoctrination. The drawback is that it isnt feasable without having high end socioeconomic status allowing a single income. One parent needs to stay home and watch the kids. Most of public school is just warehousing for children anyway.

Edfag here. Depends on your schools, skills and resources. Few people can afford to replace an entire private school system on their own. You probably have more bang for buck enriching the kids education, and being a moral center yourself

You'd have to measure base iq vs knowledge gained in both circumstances.
Also, the social development from an actual school is difficult to replace in a homeschool environment
