There were several factors behind the fall of the Roman Empire. Christianity was one of them, but it was less about Christianity specifically and more about a new monolithic religion displacing the old order and the subsequent chaos.
With that in mind, the problem isn't Christianity specifically but with a Monotheistic religion that refuses to accept other religions e.g. the current state of Islam pushing into the west.

It totally can, albeit in part. There were a lot of issues facing the Roman Empire before it fell. One of them was that the rise of Christianity undid the consolidation of power to no small extent both in leadership (there are no other gods so your emperor is a man, not a god) and physically (the establishment of Constantinople)
Of course, it's hardly the only issue. The empire had barbarians invading from the border (really activates the almonds) and of course, as you said, corruption within leadership.
