I was in Yakima, WA, recently. I’ve seen some shitty towns in my time but parts of Yakima were like The Walking Dead with shopping carts. So many young homeless people looking all dusty and deranged walking around aimlessly. I’m sure there are worse drug towns in the US but Yakima seemed pretty bleak. Also, it’s full of Mexicans which I didn’t expect this far north.

Also it seems the prevalence of "party" drugs is being overtaken by actual hard drugs. More people in their 20s are using needles. I haven't seen acid ecstasy or powder cocaine in a while. Itsall just meth, heroin, and pills. I don't really count marijuana as "hard drugs" the level of harm is pretty low with grass.

I could realistically care less what people do in their own homes. But when it spills over into the street, and becomes a threat to other peoples life, liberty, and property, it becomes a problem. Meth and opiates are a scourge.

WA user here, Yakima is apple country so naturally it's full of migrant workers. Washington state has always had a huge drug problem. Tons of heroin gets smuggled into Seattle/Tacoma via the ports. Also, tons of designer/gray market/RC drugs get shipped in from China, that nasty shit is huge in Seattle clubs right now. Spokane is the methiest place on the West coast. All of Eastern WA is on meth or pills. This state is full of seriously fucked up people, it's only saving grace is the beautiful nature.

Well in the 1950s you could literally get meth over the counter at any pharmacy. People did it all the time.
And the 50s are the ideal example of the great America we are trying to remake.

I believe that the brain is more neuroplastic than we think. I don’t have any proof, but I anecdotally think it can repair itself(or at least compensate) more than what modern medicine believes.

I'm a former meth addict. 9 months clean. And yes, I mean completely clean: my meth use ended with a psychotic episode that got me kicked out of my apartment, and I was forced to move in with my parents in a city that doesn't really have meth. I'm literally 100% clean right now except for coffee and nicotine, don't even do booze.

IDK man powder is pretty popular still. I'm that meth guy above, I know there's coke in my new city, which doesn't have meth. There's coke pretty much everywhere, unlike meth which has a very specific geographic 'range' (basically West coast, midwest and the south).

That said, I'm hearing that where I live now it's getting more and more common for coke to be cooked into crack.

I think I might have triggered early-onset Parkinson’s with a few months of unprescribed adderall use. It could just be essential tremors or anxiety disorder, but I now have more of a rigid feeling in my head/neck and get slight tremors in both of my hands. I hope it’s just anxiety and unrelated to substance use or a genetic problem, but I haven’t been able to see a neurologist about it yet.

When i was 19-20ish and experimenting with drugs, mostly selling them to pay for doctor bills, i got a batch of mdma that was actually meth. this one autistic kid i knew through grade school, wouldn't smoke, rarely drink, history buff type. He would take xtc rarely, only drug since he wanted to be more empathetic. Well he tried this batch that was meth not mdma, and the next day he came with cash and insisted on buying the rest of it. and he did it all by himself. Meth is the only drug I would describe as one time could be too many. I did NOT find it anywhere near as good as describes it. However, there definitely is an aspect of achieving higher pleasure than you'd ever be able to normally. Like you can masturbate for hours and hours and hours on meth and the whole process will feel *almost* as good as coming does sober, and when you do come, it feels so good your brain is like exploding with pleasure.

Actually I guess that's not far from the way the user described it, now that I think of it. But that's just masturbating on meth, which is the single most fun thing to do on meth. Other activities don't feel quite that great while you're on it.

I guess I'd describe the high like this:

* When it first hits it's super subtle, you don't feel 'intoxicated' just very awake and alert.
* Anything you do while on it is insanely interesting and absorbing to the point that you completely forget the world around you.
* While the high is going good, you kind of lose the ability to feel bad about anything, nothing phases you, none of your problems matter. You're just super confident and on top of the world.
* Time passes extremely quickly, one minute you're dosing the next you're looking at the clock and realizing you've been fapping for 12 hours straight.
* It keeps you awake forever, especially if you keep binging. You can literally stay awake for a week or more. After about the third day or so you start to hallucinate (not pleasant hallucinations like LSD, you hear people saying that they're sending assassins to kill you and such) and that's where all the notorious crazy tweaker behavior starts.

Best thing I know totell you is: do your damndest to stay clean. Maybe find a support group, someone to be accountable to. A support system goes a long way toward recovery. What happened when you had a psychotic break? I'm curious, mostly because I deal with some whacked out individuals on a daily basis.

At any rate, best of luck to you user. Exercise and a support system will do a lot towards recovery. Hope you make it out. Lots of people don't.

I'm not sure what you mean by otherwordly, but I always found meth "weirder" than coke. It was perception-altering in a way that coke wasn't. It was kinda "spacey." You'd get really and truly lost in your daydreams and fantasies, like you'd just stop remembering that reality existed. There's almost a slight hint of the psychedelic to a strong meth high, but without the visuals. But I don't think the word 'psychedelic' quite gets it across because it's WAY less psychedelic than weed or MDMA and most people don't consider those psychedelics. It's just this thing where you get so absorbed in whatever you're doing that ordinary reality seems to stop existing. It's so fucking hard to describe in words, but it's etched into my brain as one of the best things ever.

* Spent the whole night walking around my apartment trying to confront my roommate.
* BY the end I was screaming, landlady confronted me, got kicked out.
