GI likes to mix information with advertisement becuase this is their marketing strategy. If you can get a message to a lot of people and they do not filter it because of some label it will reach them way better. You can then go ahead and advertise your group through other flyers. Food isn't so much the problem as the disappearance of host plants, concerning butterflies. This because the host plants more often than not are considered weeds (such as nettles and wild grasses) or garden plants that have fallen out of fashion (berberis vulgari, etc.).
Still, if all you have is an appartment balcony, the lavendel will do. I'd also suggest what Germans call Borretsch, very easy to grow in pots.
