German reunification was quite frankly a lie. It should be called "West Germany's takeover". The East got almost no say in the matter of reunification, any symbolism of the DDR was swept away as fast as possible. It wasn't too sides coming together to make a better peace, it was one side kicking the other into submission. It was an annexation not unification! Never forget the only peaceful and progressive Germany, the DDR.
