Took over from the French, slaughtered a lot of people, realized they weren’t going to be able to subjugate the viets, asked for a coalition, got told NO by France and others, slaughtered more people, found out South Vietnam was corrupt as fuck and not really trying, said “fuck it” and left.

It wasn’t even a big win for Communism. Russia realized Americans were really fucking good at slaughtering people. China realized they couldn’t take over a country next door that had already been pounded to mud. Vietnam got independence like they wanted, but got Turbofucked by both sides.
