The Germans there are very cold and impolite. They are sometimes really rude for no reason, don't respect others and feel free to order grown men around like they are naughty children.
It is claimed that they are coconuts, hard exterior and soft interior. The rare times I have penetrated the hard exterior and become friends with them, I have found some gay shit going on inside, eg they aren't gay but had a gay friend they did messed up stuff with.

Yes, I'm still in the North. Where you should go depends on what you want. In big cities in the North, there aren't that many young Germans. You can socialise with eastern Europeans and even some middle-easterners are ok (eg Christians from Syria).
If you want to experience German culture before it disappears, go to Bavaria or other southern regions.
