The current borders are artificial and kill off languages and cultures that haven't managed to establish a statal organization, but should be cherished as european cultures. Galicians, Catalonians, Occitans, Bavarians, Sardinians, Venetians, Vlachs from Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece, hell, even
the Szekely's, are losing their cultures because they belong to national countries that impose a language and a culture. A unified Europe would have one official language, a non discriminatory one, and the regions would cooperate culturally only if they see fit.

We could either give in to cultureless USA or commie China, or we could create a superstate of our own that pays attention to the traditions we've developed, and have a lot of countries adhere to our model until we finally have a unified world without sacrificing culture and historical background.

You can’t be socially independent while culturally independent.

You would be better with simply an economic confederacy (basically no taxes or tariffs between euro nations), reasonably free movement for Euros only, and each nation having a minimum military commitment.

An economic union would work better with a gold standard or otherwise each nation their own currency. Having nation like Greece and Germany sharing one currency is asking for trouble (hence that some what’s youve got)
