Also, "growth" isn't as necessary as people make out. It is however a threat to boomers and the elite who rely on it.
What I mean by this is that in Europe and Australia, the mass of people saw a great increase in their standards of living and earnings after growth stalled and reversed (in the subsequent re-growth boom). However those at the top of the chain really struggled to hold their positions or wealth. In Britain they had to pass all sorts of laws to prohibit the "poor" masses from accumulating too much wealth and having too high a standard of living.
In my country in the early 20th Century they pretty much lost the battle and had to allow the working class to become middle class. Thankfully (for them) they were able to pass laws in the 60's and 70's to open the flood gates and import millions of non-whites. It's massively crashed our earnings and standards of living for most people, but hugely increased them for those at the top (and to be frank allowed Boomers to have a pretty great life/retirement).
