Building up a credit score is important if you have any interest in taking out sizable and reasonable loans and mortgages. Credit score basically is a trusted source of how good you are on paying off debt and bills. If you have a shitty score you will be punished more and get shittier loans/apartment deals in comparison to having a good score which gives you better options. We run every purchase through the card that gives us the best bonus/discount, we haven't paid for a single flight since 2013 (and we fly a lot), have used price protection to save thousands of dollars when prices drop on things we purchased, have lounge access for free drinks and food when flying, etc.

i have six credit cards. I use them all but I pay them all at the end of the month. I get points and shit on some of them. Makes it much better buying with them. That said I make 65k a year, live with my parents, drive a 2005 civic with bare minimum insurance. I just save money and have no real bills. I told my parents I make 15 an hour too just so they don't make me pay rent. I can afford to charge what is basically my gas money and maybe some food when I rarely eat out.
