These weapons sweeps are from cases involving suspects in some violent or potentially violent crime, usually gang members or drug dealers etc. They don't just randomly go into people's houses looking for baseball bats.

We can own most calibre rifles as long as it's single shot/lever etc. We can own .50cal aswell but it's rare to find people owning them. Only pump action we can own is .22 rimfire (all on a section 1 license) you can get like AK's aslong it's modified for single shot.
Any shotgun aslong as it doesn't take more then 3 rounds, so pump action but only if made to have less then 3 loaded. On a shotgun license.
You can own any shotgun with magazines or w/e on a section 1 license (the rifle license)

Obsolete calibre are free to own for anybody no license, like old martini-henry rifles.
Basically no semi-full autos and no pistols with decent calibre.

Shotgun license is easy to get as we use them for pest shooting, .22 rifles are on that.
