IBM has acquired Red Hat

Red Hat is a company that funds and develops major open source software. They were acquired without warning by IBM for $34B.

Major affiliated tech companies notorious for spying for the US government, namely Microsoft and now IBM, are trying to make themselves ubiquitous in the free and open source software landscape.

This is bad for digital freedoms even if you don't use FOSS, as the option to not be spied on will disappear for everyone. Not only that, but FOSS runs infrastructure all over the world, mainly the internet.

Hah.

the future wars will be waged by tech companies, not countries

The Linux kernel has already been compromised since the kernel.org hack of 2011. They promised to explain how the hack occurred, but never did. This acquisition doesn’t change anything.

That's the whole model of the new world order. Abolish the power of the nation-state and replace it with global corporate powers (i.e. global fascism, but of course the lefty dumbasses won't ever comprehend this.)

Red Hat is for niggers anyways... it would fit perfectly with Jow Forums because of that fact alone

>namely Microsoft and now IBM
Are you just waking up from a coma?

Thirty four fucking BILLION for fucking Red Hat? Jesus Christ.

They got a pretty good profit model off of working their way in to the enterprise industry and making money off of support and getting things to work right.

Where the fuck are teh fucking anti-trust laws?
The tech sector has gone too far.
