You do realize billable isn't the same as making making 100 an hour every time you work right? You have overhead, taxes, and for every hour you work there will be time you can't bill.

i used themis. be financially comfortable. i had to study mid-move and working. barely passed the UBE because of working and ended up studying only like 3.5 weeks. people who lived with their parents or significant others and had less of a burden seemed to have a much easier time. its not a test you can do just "getting by" - you need to be comfortable.

It's not everyone in their 20's and 30's, but when you're one of those people you focus on that as a kind of systemic problem. The problem is two fold, first you have to stop thinking about getting a "good job" and start thinking about how to make yourself some kind of tradesmen. I don't even mean a blue collar trade in the traditional sense, I mean you need to find a valuable, lucrative set of skills that are in demand and work very hard to make yourself a master of those skills. The second problem is not millions of people working dead end jobs, it's that wages have stagnated in those jobs. People in the US should be able to work a hard and honest day's work and at least live comfortably, not in complete comfort but at least anxiety free of losing their home and being able to feed themselves and use transportation. If you want wages to increase, then stop supporting globalism, support right wing fascist nationalist leaders who are interested in helping your family, not some idealistic academic socialist bullshit.

I work a standard 45 hrs, but I fluctuate hours. I live in Denver, which is becoming what San Francisco was in the 80's...which is to say Outrageously expensive. It's not exactly warehouse work. I work in the bagging department of a company that grows genetically modified crops. The process is about 80% automated. Mexican pushes a button and fills a bag, robot arm picks it up and stacks it on a pallet, once it stacks 60, I take the pallet and move it to the warehouse for another Mexican to put it away.
I make way too much money as it is, but each pallet is worth almost $20,000 so they don't really care.

I’ve done warehouse work and it’s awful. I’m in logistics now and work third shift, so now my sleep cycle is screwed up to boot. I’d spend hours kneeling on concrete floors and my knees are screaming, even with knee pads.
But it’s all worth it for $12/hr, -1/6 in taxes and other fees for maybe 30 hours a week with no benefits.

It's funny really - all my friends in high school thought they were smart for gong to uni to do a degree that had no demand and shit pay - if one would have a brain you would research and find job prospects in seconds - and yet they got theirselves in over 45 grand in debt and they are making less than the people in our high school who went into a good trade or became self-employed.
