It’s probably intentional. There’s a similar thing with the ark of the covenant where it says something like “oh it was stolen and nobody is allowed to search for it” in the Torah, because it’s obviously just not real. Same thing with this. If it’s built and the world doesn’t change then their prophecies are false, so they’re scared of doing it
