I've been a fake Christian but I have been aware that I have been and I have not followed him well. I'm so lost. I used to go to an evangelical church with my parents and they loved it and both deeply served the lord and help others. But I feel so different. I went through this edgy phase of where I was an atheist from 11-16 mainly because I was angry at god. Angry because he took my father from me at 11 years old from lymphoma. And I recovered realized I was wrong to be so angry. I'm 22 now and never completely recovered. My mom still serves the lord like she has all her life and sometimes I feel like I have not done well by her, my father, and god. I'll admit even when I was atheist I still believed a bit I was just in a very bad state. What do? Should I return to my moms church and try and be a better Christian man in spite of some of the less real Christian things? Should I seek out a new church and start fresh? I've been curious about the orthodox church for a while...

How does one know when one believes something? Does this occur at the moment where you silently tell it to yourself repeatedly? Does it only happen in some metaphysical way? Sometimes I don't know what I believe because I'm not sure which things I'm simply telling myself and which things I'm just too lazy to ponder about, so I "believe" it. Serious question.

The issue at hand is not some esoterica argument about how God legally accounts for your guilt or innocence.
It actually has to do with this, at v. 3:
Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

What Paul is talking about in the epistle is the fact that all peoples, not just Abraham's descendents, are subject to the covenant blessings Abraham was promised, thanks to Christ making an an end to the emnity between the two parties at the cross (as in 2 Eph, Rom 8 at length, etc).
The works of the law, the ritual ethnic identifiers of the Jews, is no longer the criteria for membership in the people of God:
Rather, faithfulness to Kibng Jesus is all that counts.

This one is easy...
Jesus took our place, that is to say, took on the consequence of our sin, and in a more particular manner the sin of Israel, so as to satisfy the Abrahamic Covenant and thus validate Yahweh's faithfulness while simultaneously, by enacting the perfect Spirit-powered life, create the seed for the new-Adamic Race.
