This is the story of St. Maria Goretti and Allesandro, her murderer and attempted rapist. Allesandro was a 19 year old who tried to rape and then murdered an 11 year old Maria by stabbing her 14 times. On her death bed, St. Maria expressed no ill will towards Allesandro and only wanted him to be saved and wished that she would see him in paradise. After having a vision fo her in prison 8 years after the event (he was ultimately kept in prison for 27 years) he had a religious conversion. Upon being released from prison, he lived in a monastery. He went to visit her mother and the mother said
>Alessandro, Marietta forgave you, Christ has forgiven you, and why should I not also forgive. I forgive you, of course, my son! Why have I not seen you sooner? Your evil days are past, and to me, you are a long-suffering son.
The mother went to Mass with him and received Communion with him and ever after, he was known to the family as Uncle Allesandro.
At her trial for canonisation, he was the best witness because he was the only one who could give detailed accounts of exactly what happened. He prayed to St. Maria Goretti his whole life as his "protector".
So, that's it. What do you think Jow Forums? Is this story a sign of God's love and existence? Why are you still not Catholic?
the mother is stronger than i ever will. i could never forgive such a man even though i believe everyone who truely repeants from the depth of his heart should get another chance
Josiah Bennett
>What do you think Jow Forums? I bought a book about saints a couple while back. She was the saint of the day that day. It's a totally fucked story. Its fucked up that he served less than 30 years for killing that loli, its fucked up that her family forgave him, its fucked up they let him be at her canonization. Christian "morality" in action.
Lincoln Rodriguez
Because the bible clearly says; >But whoever causes one of these little ones who believes in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone was tied around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea But Catholic pedeloving faggots like you ignore that and go ahead and bastardize Christendom, as if committing a schism from the ONE church wasn't bad enough. You are either Eastern Orthodox or not Christian at all, and I'm sick of repeating this.
It's because Western Christians have always had a fucked, misguided morality. It was Western Europeans in general who ruined Christianity, not the other way around.
Parker Nelson
Is it so hard to believe in true and saintly forgiveness? No one denies the absolute and horrible gravity of the crime he committed. And I hold no particular praise for Allesandro. It's Maria and her mother, but especiallly Maria, that is worthy of reverence for her godly willingness to forgive someone who did the worst they could to do her. Especially at such a young age. Just like Jesus was crucified, and prayed for the repentance of those who condemned him.
Jeremiah Williams
Repeat to the previous point, dumbass. Abusing or corrupting a child is unforgivable. I wouldn't be surprised if you refute or deny Mark 9:42 like the heretic you are
Daniel Lewis
How many times will you retards quote this line without understanding what it means? Pro-hint: Jewsus is saying his followers should be like ignorant easily led children and false teachers should just kill themselves. He loved insulting his followers like this, calling them children and sheep. >Is it so hard to believe in true and saintly forgiveness? Yes, because it's wrong. >No one denies the absolute and horrible gravity of the crime he committed Forgiveness denies the heinousness of the crime. If anything can simply be forgiven how can anything truly be wrong?
Lincoln Scott
>So, that's it. What do you think Jow Forums? Kikeianity is a mental virus that induces suicidal levels of cuckoldry.
Jace Ward
>hurr, it don't mean what u say it do even do it clearly do! >Gnostic talking points What a surprise, another clueless crayon eater
Juan Russell
>Forgiveness denies the heinousness of the crime Not if the offender is genuinely remorseful.
Asher Walker
>If anything can simply be forgiven how can anything truly be wrong?
So you're implying you shouldn't forgive anything that's wrong?
Or are you implying that you can only forgive things which aren't wrong? That makes no sense. Forgiveness is for things that are truly wrong. That's the whole point. Someone does something wrong to you, but instead of seeking revenge, you hold back and hope they repent and turn to better ways. Forgiveness is separate from justice and mercy. It is just a personal decision to let go.
He should have a life sentence, sure, but that's beside the point. This isn't about Allesandro or antiquated justice systems. It's about a saint who was willing to forgive her murderer.
Robert Green
Fucking cowards. The Old Testament is the Truth. The only thing Jesus did was call out the future of Satanic worship, so in the end they are both the Truth. If you must know God wants to vaporize this World, so it can be reborn with pure thoughts and pure Hearts. Where good is all that matters, and the everlasting Golden rule. This World has failed. You ruined everything with your lust for greed. I will destroy everything you’ve ever thought was Truth. If it is spoken it shall happen. You better wake up and understand, God is furious.
>calling someone your child is an insult man, your parents must really suck
Ryder Sanders
Kill all sinners
Levi Rivera
"Dumbass," the point of this story isn't about justice or law, which is what you're referring to, but a personal desicion to forgive. God forbids any sin as long as there's true repentance and a deep intent to never commit that sin again. Just as so, any person can, on a personal level, decide to forgive their wrongdoer.
Brody Hall
>Lmao lets just let people rape and murder our daughters guys >Just turn the other cheek bro it doesn't matter in the long run when we are all in (((heaven)))
Its not hard to see why Europe is going to shit
Chase James
Again, this is not about justice. Justice for a crime should be served, regardless of whether the victim forgives the aggressor or not. This is about forgiveness and has nothing to do with whether the criminal/offender should serve justice or not. Is that so hard to understand?
Cooper Bailey
The mentality behind that (((forgiveness))) causes weakness and it creates limp wristed fags who don't feel the need to stand up for themselves because a magic book told them to turn the other cheek
Isaac Johnson
Also, what makes you different from a wild dog, if you, like the dog, mindlessly bites back when a hand hits you? Isn't our rationality, and our ability to forgive, what makes us humans instead of wild animals?
Mason Fisher
>Christianity is weak t. Also says >Christianity is violent and savage Europe became cucked when it abandoned Christianity. The most secular ones (UK, France, Nordic countries, Germany) are also the ones being overrun by peaceful refugees Meanwhile, the most religious ones (Italy, Poland, Hungary, and to a lesser extent, Russia) are the ones not cucking out.
Brandon Hall
>doesnt know what turn the other cheek actually means
>Even tho christianity wants to cut little boys dicks, its still the goat religion
Ian Howard
Addendum: pic related. If Christianity were a Jewish trick, would European Christians have fought tooth and nail to keep the Muzzies out for centuries? The only cuckery that has come about was thanks to the (((Enlightenment)))
Austin Bailey
What I don't understand is why someone in the family didn't just kill her rapist and then forgive him as he was dying. It's not like Catholic Italy hasn't had a long history of vendetta slayings, after all
Leo Young
Standing up for yourself doesn't mean not being able to forgive. I can stand up for myself when someone attacks a core belief of mine, and I defend it. I can stand up for myself when I do something wrong, and I'm willing to accept that and face the consequences. Just as equally, I'm able to stand up for myself when someone accuses me of a falsehood, and I defend myself. But most importantly, I can, just as you also can, stand up for others in need. You can help the poor, the sick, and the defenseless. If you see someone attacking in some way an innocent, you can stand up to the attacker if that person is defenseless. None of this is mutually exclusive with our ability to forgive.
Connor Torres
>wants to cut little boys dicks Rake yourself leaf. The Early Church, as documented in the New Testament, abrogated any necessity of circumcision (something the heretics literally called Judaizers wanted).
It doesn't, the NT specifically says you don't have to do this. Most Euros aren't circumcised. The problem here in North America is the influence of Jewish physicians
William Roberts
Precisely.
Lucas Richardson
Christianity is the religion that started telling Jews not to cut their dicks off.
This shows the power of forgiveness and mercy to overcome evil, that we do not merely overcome evil by avoiding it, and delivering retribution upon it, we also overcome it by forgetting it and rooting it out of it's perpetrator with mercy.
Thomas Morgan
Literally making shit up
Logan Jenkins
What a thoughtful counterargument
Owen Murphy
Satisfying justice and forgiving trespasses committed against you are two different things in Christianity. I understand in your materialist world view forgiveness would entail the cession of justice, but Christians believe in a transcendent justice that needs to be satisfied regardless of whether forgiveness is forth coming or not.
Jordan King
>passive aggressive catty response Modern christians everyone. This is what results when you take the manliness out of a religion
Jayden Gomez
That was never my argument bro, you're talking past me
