If you believe in this delusional garbage, I don't even know what to say. This should be the easiest thing for a rational person to discard, it's not even a question.
"Oh what a quandary, this is such a difficult argument"....no, it's not. This isn't like some grand philosophical treatise, this is the difference between being a somewhat intelligent person, and being abjectly retarded.
We know why religion continues to stick around, just like we know why measles infects children in Malaysia. It's a social malignancy that needs to eventually be stamped out, just like measles
It gives people both emotional comfort and a community to be part of. Freemasons for instance, are unified by the faith of something bigger and higher, and its immediately obvious what they have accomplished by being united when you appreciate world history. And this is just one example.
If you want a more abstract example you can take the Jow Forums myth of the evil joo. It seems to me they are very united by their religion and they accomplish a lot, don't you think?

OP I can tell you by your post that you're ignorant and haven't looked into the religions you're bashing.
These books were written by appropriate writers. They were reach inspired by an original source of text that have been discovered in Iraq dating back to 6000 BC
They're pieces of history that tell a tale and contain hidden hermetic wisdoms.
Michael Anderson
You're right.

What if I told there is a lot of crazy shit but it is unrelated to almost any popular religion?

I’m an atheist. I don’t ‘believe’ anything. I only care about what can be theorized or proven with facts and evidence. Having said that, I smoked 5meodmt and I experienced what people call god. With this insight, religions all make sense to me now.
Some people need an external entity to justify their actions and beliefs. They need some idea to unify them. God may or may not exist, but if you want your son to disobey and your wife to cheat you, tell them that the God is Dead. This pretty much.
Love - (implies free will) Logic - (presupposes that it needs to be consistent, cogent and sound) Truth - (Presupposes that Truth universally exists) Knowledge - (presupposes universally objective facts) Morality - (Presupposes omnibenevolent axiom to reference yourself from) Will - (presupposes a non deterministic universe)
Any of these, in any way shape or form, if used, regardless if used in a subjective context, are an absolute statement, arriving at a Truth claim, which are therefore an appeal to God.
If any of you fuckers use these words, you are making an appeal to God period.
Science presupposes something exists in order for it to examine, there is no deductivity.
Godel's incompleteness theorem proves not a single fucking belief can be held with a concrete deductive (self evident) premis/axiom
You're entire world view, like those who believe in a God. is nothing more than faith, no amount of materialistic reductionist is going to justify your shitty belief that because of this fucking rock, God doesn't exist. Even if we knew the Truth, because of free will we can reject it regardless. Welcome to being intellectually dishonest.
I'm replying so that people may actually read something worth thinking about.
Here's your (you) now get the fuck off my board shill.

Everyone is religious and has a god. It's human nature and a necessity for civilization that people try to find a common moral ground built up around the teachings of prominent figures, myths, and beliefs to define the abstract cohesion of group consciousness. Even so called atheists fall into this category, the main difference being advancements in material knowledge and the ease of mass communication changed the way we define the impossible to grasp totality of the human psyche.
I dunno man. Imagine the bottom half of humanity running around with no moral guidelines or sense of purpose. Religion, as harmful as it can be, keeps retards in check.
Xavier Ward
>Prove >Evidence
This is where i call you intellectually dishonest.
All you have done as an atheist, is vector off the truth by presupposing that something called evidence exists without proving that first, and then examining what ever "proof" we think is worthy in YOUR opinion to find out what is true. The only problem here is, how the fuck are you going to know whats True?
You're core belief about Truth is tied to nothing more but your own opinion and belief that materials can disprove something you already believe doesn't exist.
Thats called A priori rejection of "evidence"
And under what authority since you've presupposed God doesn't exist, can you somehow even fucking make sense of anything because you're literally riding on your own belief that logic just works without explaining any of it. You're presupposing a fuck ton while the otherside is presupposing but also making an appeal to an all knowing authority.
do you not understand why athiesm is an absolute retard position.
You are rejecting the existence of absolutes, absolutely.
complete contradiction.
Nathaniel Ross
You're literally making a Marxist argument and it's still retarded like it was then.
The idea that religion is a set of literalist beliefs is an autistic straw man, and this form of Christianity only came into existence in the 19th century thanks to mutts sperging out about evolutionary theory.
Religion is of great value, it's pragmatic and plays an enormous role in a functioning society. Used correctly, religion is a tool for a healthy and thriving civilisation and attempts to remove it end in disaster.
Brandon Morris
The 30 years war was more of a political struggle between the Habsburgs and their rivals. The French phase was fought between Catholics for entirely irreligious reasons, and this was by far the most destructive stage.

more than anything user, i hope im wrong...MORE THAN ANYTHING. the biblical notion of an eternal hell that probably 90% of mankind, from its origin until its cessation, will find themselves in at the end of time is a cruel and seemingly unjust one. especially when we seem to be wired for pleasure and have all the odds stacked against us vis a vis choosing to live how Christ instructed.
the fact of the matter however is that if you really think about it, the ONLY logical conclusion one can make is that a divine being created all that we can perceive.
science merely masquerades as objective and true, yet it has failed to answer the most important and fundamental question....how does something come from nothing? and what is the origin of human consciousness. you may or may not believe that the being that created everything is indeed the God of The Bible, but it is beyond a reasonable doubt that the notion of existence arbitrarily manifesting from nothing at all into everything we now see and seem is absurd. with that in mind, you have to ask yourself, out of all the deity-worshipping religions, which one espouses the greatest consequences to your immortal soul should you choose to disregard/fail to adhere to its principles? i dont know of any other belief system with a more horrible punishment than to reject the Holy Spirit...in fact, it is the worst possible punishment in that the Bible describes it as ETERNAL.
you now a choice to make: either sit behind your screen and complain and rebel because its not fair (and i pretty much agree with you on that) or you can surrender yourself to The God of all creation and the only possible way we can avoid this everlasting damnation. his name is JESUS CHRIST. call on him.
Not really. The spic/nigger does not stop slaughtering his friend over shoes just because he believes in the lawd jebbus
