It worked for me user. No degree, 12 years into my career it doesn't matter anymore. Get experience by underbidding with a good demo site. Make it do something clever to show you're into problem solving. Then ask for 2/3 what a degreed kid would ask. Do that for 2 years and keep updating your resume with all you learn as you work. Then eventually you'll get noticed for a real gig. Then it's just a matter of keeping on top of the tech.
Learn AWS. Build a site using one of their database servers. Make a docker container and learn to deploy it. That shit is where it's at right now.
