The Crusades were a reactionary military response to a miltaristic invasion of Christian lands.
Priest pedophilia always existed, but used to be seen as a generally good thing in that the priests put extra care into some of the otherwise left behind boys. These betamales could then join the church and become respected members of their community instead of incels. See Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in Doubt (2008).
