idk G image search seems to be superior but recent updates have been clunky as fuck. DDG does't have the "semantic" power or it's predictive AI that's been tracking you. I use DDG and it's decent but it's not as clean of an interface as Google nor does it's results come with the exactness that Google has.
DDG is aware of this and has said their challenge is what Google is working on today is years ahead of them. I work with Google at an engineering level (they're a customer). So far it doesn't look like they've lost very many good people over this. I expect it's inevitable that they will if they're hiring for diversity and not merit, but I haven't noticed any brain drain yet. Perhaps they are relying on their monopoly position to kill any competition so that they can suck and still retain market share. I think this stresses why it's important to keep the market competitive so that Google will fail as it should when it goes too far.
