If you are going to deploy a force, it better be an overwhelming one.
The intimidation factor alone can end the conflict before it even begins, which would be the best outcome.

also you need tanks to cover your soldiers at the border because border chimpouts are primarily used for terror attacks , i've seen many cases of people blending with the crowd with guns and opening fire on the other side when they get close or using the chaos to plant IEDs on the border patrol route , tanks are very good at area denial so if you place them in a sparse formation they can cover tens of kilometers easily and provide a second line of defense if the first line of infantry is zerged.
