Good luck. such large waves are very dangerous when they come in closed of areas like fjords. in norway 8000 years ago we had a large underwater avalanche that caused 10-15 meter high waves at sea, but rose to 30-45 meters when going into fjords. it wiped out life all over where it hit.

It could just be a buoy malfunction, but it's a bit weird that it seems to actually follow the shape of a wave (i.e. big peak that dampens).

Could be an explosion (nuclear test), a giant squid chewing the buoy's tether.

My thought was that maybe a large vessel had passed by it too close to cause it, but i dont know and wont check how close it is to usual shiplines and if there is large military movements around the area. But it looks just like a huge wave and especially with the aftershocks on the graph. Are nearby buoys reporting the same phenomena or when is ETA on the closest one to determine where it is headed or if its a malfunction.
