What always weirded me out was that 18 was the age of consent. So that means when you turn 18 you can't date anybody 2-4 years younger than you like normal. You have to date other 18 year olds or someone older than you.

In my state there is no age for marriage, but it needs to be approved by a court till 16 at which point 16-18 is with parental consent. 18+ no consent required other than the girls. Also, my state is 16 is the age of consent.
