Just like the rest of the marketing world, Disney has realized Women make up the biggest market for useless crap. Combine that with a well know brand that already guarantees all the niche nerds who popularized it (even if all they do is complain about it after having bought the shit) and its practically printing money. The new movies have been shit on by anyone familiar with the originals but they still make BANK. Disney doesn't give a shit about staying true to the franchise/source material at all, they take a brand and turn it into the most potent normie bait in years with star appeal, nostalgia and marketing. I can't help but be impressed at the sheer souless money making empire they have managed to create.
