1984

In school, we were taught that 1984 was the totalitarian regime of something like the Nazi's. Using INGSOC as equivalent to NATSOC. Despite the fact that race had nothing to do with society, and the socialist-authoritarian ideas were certainly more in line with the Soviet Union. I'm re-reading the book and would like some outside insight.

Although I do think the use of a Jew like Goldstein as the threat, might be evidence of their conclusion.

Orwell did model the 1984 society more after the USSR. The surveillance was stasi tactics. The red sash was symbolic of communism.

So this type of teaching, (I was a senior in high school, 2010.) Is even more symbolic of Jew psyops? Using the socialism to attribute to Nazis rather than socialism?

IDK, victors write history and (((they))) really don't want you to know much about the (((USSR))) so they project all that as being representative of "fascism" when 1984 and Brave New World were more about (((communist))) societies.

Even an elementary amount of knowledge about the soviet union makes it pretty clear that 1984 was more about communism

Those digits

You're correct. Race had zero to do with the totalitarian "society" portrayed in 1984. O'Brian made that clear while Winston Smith was being tortured.

Smith asked O'Brian at one point what was the point of all of it.

O'Brian replied 9paraphrase) "There is no "point". You are being tortured because we CAN torture you. If there must be a "point", the point is we CAN stomp on the face of a human forever."

This is it....power simply to have power. And I swear THAT is the Democrat Party. Someone tell me...why do the Democrats want to be in power again so badly? Why? They don't even have a fucking platform!

1984 is a stupid book. Just ignore it. For some reason high schools make kids read it.

Modern China is a good example of a modern totalitarian state. Study china, ignore 1984

Very few people understand this book the way I do, maybe you'll find my insights worth something.

I believe its a warning and not a message, and I also believe George Orwell found his warning from an understanding he discovered through pain and suffering. It has to do with what the species might put itself through given the chance(such as after a nuclear holocaust - a disaster of the greatest proportion) as it reorganizes itself.

Academics like to claim to know what its about, as they do with everything. To me its about self hatred, and more specifically a hatred of the species, where by the 'human'(social) element is utilized to reduce mankind to rubble, leaving those capable of raw adaptation to forever do what they will with the other social-group minded types

Trips of truth

Its almost leaving the humanities in a robotic-like existent homogenous. Maybe even a link of totalitarianism, where the right views homogenous by race, and the left by class.

Though really the book shows neither

It's likely that given a world that is in a sense or is at least, destroyed, to some great extent . . That man will betray his past out of pure logic.

Much of our memories of OUR personal past are maintained so we can continue a dialogue with the former self.... Given the chance, the brain will begin determining that former self to be of no use, a potential threat, an enemy

By the way I have yet to see the movie, is it worth watching?

i think you just had a jewish teacher my guy
at no point had i ever heard 1984 correlated to the nazis more so than the soviets

it was literally written after nazi germany was already a memory in the history books and when the soviets were a looming threat

It's brilliant. Not quite as good as the book but worth watching, nonetheless.

My teacher would point to Goldstein as a scape goat for an authoritarian regime like the Nazis had

I don't think the war was a distant memory in 48-49. They were probably still rebuilding shit. I've always heard it was critical to authoritarianism and communism(Animal Farm for the latter), never nazis.

It's only considered one of the most important books because people are dumb, right?
China took everything Orwell wrote and put it to practice. Whenever there's something rotten afoot in the middle kingdom, the government just blames Japan, South Korea or westerners to distract from it. Cameras everywhere, social credit, distrust of anyone and the government making you disappear whenever it wants.

Thanks which version?

I always see either side accusing the other of being "1984."
And I cannot comprehend this accusation coming from leftists. Nothing about that novel or the regime depicted within bears any resemblance to the right.
Whereas every theme is in lock step with progressives.
Control of language and the meaning of words, control of thoughts, control of economics. Their sudden about face on russia is "we've always been at war with X." They think everyone can be re-educated to think in acceptable terms.
About the only major theme I don't see them following is state controlled marriage, and that's only because they've descended to such degenerate depths as to do away with the practice entirely in all but tax law.

1984 in no way applies to conservatives change my mind.

I think it goes beyond the ordinary conventions and its because academic minds exist within the conventions of their study that they can't help but to compute in accordance with they circuitry they accidentally created. All outer parts of the party exist as a system of control and serve no other purpose.

In the ancient Orient there was a well established view that mankind is robotic in nature and that it exists equally as important as it is unimportant. That once stripped of his false sense of importance, he would be in harmony and become more important. The inner party in 1984 cause disharmony. They use force to identify the important ones . . The ones that are worthy to join the ranks of their hive mind

That's my favoruite. It has John Hurt in it, he is a legendary actor, he does a good job.

Thank ya, gonna finish up this second reading and give it a watch.

Trotsky might've actually been who Goldstein was symbolic of (and the USSR's enemy)

Orwell also had a Trotsky pig in Animal Farm.

1984 is sloppy fiction based on real life totalitarian states like the soviet union and nazi germany. Real life is not based on 1984. You're giving the book waaaay too much credit. It's trash.

I just watched it for the first time, last week. It's worth a watch only if you have read the book. I don't know how anybody can really follow the movie without reading the book first. There is just too much to cover to do ot justice in a 1.5-2 hour film. I would love to see it reproduced as a mini-series, but modern film/television makers would just fuck it up.

you are trash

ingsoc was english socialism retard

I'm not going to try to change your mind, mate. You're right.

1984 is just a caricature of communism, similiar to Animal Farm.

Of course I understand that Muhammad. I'm telling the embellishment of INGSOC by my old English teacher.

Fiction wrote in 1948 that predicted most of the shit we're having to deal with today. It is telling that the book was banned in China until recently. I'd say the book Winston reads and the essay at the end on newspeak are both worth a read.

I can already see it. Big Brother has a red tie and blonde hair. The daily 2 minutes of hate are Fox News style segments. White people are the party elite, while minorities are the proles.

INGSOC is a criticism of national socialism, not a reflection. Although both are nationalistic, totalitarian, and violent in their policy, the nature of their being is antithetical and disgusting to each other. The Nazis believed themselves to be racially pure. They set themselves out to conquer Europe through invasion, war and massacre in 1939. With 1984, hence the book's name, the war has already been fought, the conflict was decided at an unknown date, and no further progress is possible. (1984 means nothing, since every year is 1984 - this is the primary meaning of the title, that the date does not mean anything anymore.) The wars and invasions described in 1984 are not there for anything other than for their own benefit of keeping the INGSOC party and even their enemies in a state of power. Whilst National Socialism is a celebration of modernity (for instance the futurists), Orwell's book laments the influence of technologically based governments by its propaganda, industrial wars and loose ethics through describing its self-defeating behavior and loose grip of ethics. It remains relevant today because of the denial by society to appreciate that a technologically advanced society could become trapped the corruption and barbarism that it hoped to overcome.

no one wants to hear about your english teacher juan carlos el mutto

And you can steal that shit if you want for your essay deadline, kids.

Everyone only focuses on the known parts of the outer party. Even when its a fabrication designed to control 98% of the population who have nothing to offer. Ignoring the inner party despite the suggestive regards

burger education is always "muh evil notsees!!!! joos were oppress!!!", so yeah

It used to be commies way more than nazis. Guess after the cold war ended no one gave a shit anymore.

Kek. Can confirm. That was my entire edjewcation.
