You want your genes to pass on and therefore having someone with a lot of similar genes the possibility that your offspring can pass on most to all of your genes is desired. Someone genetically distant to you either make it possible to replace many genes when your children stays in your population.
Also if races and ethnicities don't have mixed "bridges" like half mixed, quarter mixed on both sides and other mixes these people might make it possible that viral diseases have an easier time to go from one population to another.

It makes sense to look for traits in a partner that counter the negative inherited traits in your lineage. Example: both sides of my family have shitty feet and a tendency towards drink and depression. Asians in Asia isnt the same as Asians in the west, tho I agree about Asians are probably being better at staying with the kid.
But is it important? You maybe can find stats saying that single household kids are doing poorly, but I am not sure about correlation vs causation here. Maybe people with good genes are staying together at a higher rate, so kids with 2 parents are doing better on average, but the cause is genes ot 2 parents.
