To elaborate: I suspect that the long term plan of Soros was (and still is) a bid for domination of certain sectors, industrial and/or financial. Now if you do that you will attract competition like flies ... people who object your plans for control, smartasses who may 'ride the wave' and try to simply hijack your ambitious project. That is the true game played here. The whole lefty stuff may have started as a simple 'front of morality' to gloss over your project (and also as a way to build a loyal network of Kader in Eastern Europe after the collapse of the USSR, see all those Soros universities) ... then later the fugee thing became both a handy tool of destabilization and a way to bait the industry with the promise of cheap labor. But I think he became too ambitious, stepped on too many people's toes ... other predators just as him. Now the gloves are off and Merkel may truly be the first collateral in that little game.

But you're missing one thing - Soros is facade for certain banker family (not even tinfoil theory at this point) and he's going to be thrown from the cliff to appease masses, disgruntled with current happenings. But his succesor is already chosen. In that regard, Merkel is truly a collateral, which is somehow funny, considering she was their valuable piece on european chessboard.
