Hello Jow Forums,
This is a very serious and important thread.
I'm not the first to notice this, but it seems that the right-wing in Brazil has found a solution to the Social Media censorship issue. Let me explain.
During the election we just had, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter all worked together censoring right-wing channels and comentators. In addition, the media was clearly left-leaning, as usual.
In Brazil, 95%+ of internet users have a chat app called Watsapp. This app allows for messages/images/videos to be shared in groups, and works with cryptography - in such way that you really can't be censored due to de content of your message, since it is not public. Also, even thought it is not public, the messages spread very fast and very easily - most people share a lot of what they receive to other people and in other groups.
Bolsonaro won partially due to Watsapp. At the end of the campaign the left was demanding the judges to block Watsapp completly (which is insane, didn't happen).
It worked perfectly. People got every video, every meme, every commentary from right-wing sources through Watsapp.
So, even if Youtube or Facebook censored your video, you could record a video in your own phone, upload directly to Watsapp and reach millions of people.
There is no way to censor it, except by banning the plattaform. Watsapp also does not lift a finger banning specific content (except behavior that looks like spam to their algorithims), even though the Brazilian legislation is very restrictive when it comes to speech.
So, why the right-wing worldwide has not started using Watsapp already? If this app gets very popular as a general means of communication, censorship in twitter, facebook and youtube won't stop our ideas.
