Also I wouldn't say left is inheritely irrational or the other way around. There are irrational rights and rational lefts.
However libertarians, capitalists, direct democracy, meritocracy, and everything else that supports freedom and lets the society figure out optimal solutions on its own is pretty much rational in my opinion.

Rational decision is a decision is the result of analysis. Where you consider various arguments, consider potential failures etc.
Doing decisions on impulse, primarily considering feelings, discarding and ignoring scepticism, is pretty much irrational.
Someone who wants public health care because it could help poor people get access to it without doing much harm to others is pretty rational.
Someone who believes women have to be paid more because pay gap is definitely not coming from natural differences in genders, and any scepticism to that equality is "evil" and ignored is pretty much irrational.
So as stated, you are defining rationality according to your ideology.
