He sounds like a bit of a knucklehead. His basic self-help shit is nice and all, but he's way out of his depth.

Got through the book and had some insightful viewpoints. It is a self help book but not a bad one, not a fan of some of the religious views pushed but it's got merrot at times. Why do you now hate jp?

I really liked JP for awhile. His book has some good life advice. He really seemed like HE had it all figured out for awhile. Stand up tall, clean your room, etc. good advice.

Then JP got too famous or big headed or something. When he said Kavanaugh should resign he lost me as a fan. Not merely because it went against what I wanted but it seemed like he was ignoring his own rules.

If you’re accused of something you didn’t do, you stand tall for yourself. The new JP seems to have forgotten that. I really felt personally let down by JP.

After reading the book it made me realize how much I disagree with him. And not just the individualism vs tribalism argument that gets posted here many times. His self help is mainly common sense. Not to mention he goes off on rambling tangents that take 4 pages to get to the point. His stance on religion is a big one that I have to disagree on.

If you've ever seen PTA's The Master, he's a close ideological copy of Dodd, down to the "conquering the dragon" speech and flip flopping of beliefs.

nah i think Peterson has some interesting things to say, and brings something to the table that isn't particularly common in the current ideological conversation, but he does contradict himself sometimes and some of his recent messaging has seemed strangely out of character.

I don't think you have to be as binary about it as you're implying, it's not "you follow everything he says 100% or you don't listen to him at all", I think there's a middle ground. I agree with maybe 60-70% of what he says, which is fine with me.

I was annoyed from the outset when he felt the need to get some juden to personally vouch that "Peterson is not a nazi, don't worry you can buy his book" in the forward.
