The fact check includes two statements. He was an SS [or] a collaborator. The first one is false, the second one is true.

By including them together, and also by putting the false one before the true one, they're better able to control the narrative. Try to argue it with facts, even including quotes from the man himself, and it will be argued down by focusing on the false portion and ignoring the truth.
