For the average working joe? Little will change significantly. DOD is still going to get funded, and its going to be a little harder for republicans to push forward legislation. Congressional hearings will be a little more entertaining, thats about it.

The major thing is Supreme Court nominations. Those have lasting weight here, and if republicans don't have control we'll have to settle for candidates that don't necessarily support republican values. Thats what keeps most republican voters restless, they don't have the same passion for social issues democrats do. Most republican voters don't give a fuck what democrats do in their own state, they just dont want them to legislate from the bench in ways that affect them.
