The Senate is the upper house and 1/3rd is up for election every 2 years.
Each state gets 2 senators no mater the size.In the house each state gets Representatives depending on population with a minimum of 1.

Anyways the house is elected across the country every 2 years and is a traditional representative system.
The senate is 2 senators per state, but only 1/3 of senators are up for election every 2 years and this year in particular almost all of the senate elections are in states Trump won, meaning the Republicans have an easier time there since all the races are on friendly turf.

The model sees that a bunch of “likely Republican” districts (particularly in Florida) are now 100 percent likely to go red. But there hasn’t been the chance for Democrats to clinch many equivalent likely Democratic districts.

It’s kind of complicated, but not all seats in Congress are up for grabs. House is by population which means there’s way more house seats while senate is only 2 seats per state.
The odds are so different because a state like California will as a state vote democratically (2 democratic senate seats).. but since house seats are divided geographically by population, there are pockets where republicans will win house seats. This is where gerrymandering comes in (drawing district lines to benefit a certain party).
Also remember that not every seat in Congress is ever up for the taking. It rotates every two years.
