League of Nations is predecessor of UN, which means international law which Germany was breaking, since they didn't want to hand their economy to USA and UK. Italy/Japan joined war on side of Hitler because they didn't want league of nations aka UN to control their sea, like right now USA wants to control Chinese sea, claiming it is international waters.
