It mostly stems from censorship. Any site with noticeable censorship ends up left-leaning since topics or opinions that make people uncomfortable get stifled such as being pro-life/gun which makes it more appealing to those who are against it and it creates a feedback loop.

There's almost no censorship here and we have anonymity which attracts people with opinions that are counter-culture and since Jow Forums is, by its very nature, contrarian you end up with what we have now.
