Western music (nowerdays) is just corperate shit pumped out for the masses to consume.
Songs that actually mean something to someone other than money, fame or vanity have something that makes them better.
It's why traditional music, classical music, marches etc. are so much better than modern shit because there is real feeling in them.
The artist were living, and they gave part of themselves to make the song, now AIs and NPC make the same safe drivel again and again and again.

British music kind of took a slump around 1880s as we became a more globalised people.

Not all western music is outright souless crap though. The 70s had a bunch of really good rock and folk bands with a lot of soul in them.
I really like prog rock because it has a lot of soul poured in it, but also has an interesting arrangement that acompanies that soul. "Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd is top tier at doing this.
