Liberals have abandoned any sense of faith or non-physical truth. This means there is no form of greater, intrinsic good or evil. These concepts are instead slowly rooted in basic realities. It's more complex then all this, but the basic frame is this:

If you think of life in these terms, then the left's massive meltdown over the last couple years makes all the sense in the world. If they are not right, if they are not happy winners, then they are evil. Or at least bad. It's like a cruel parent, the love and kindness of the world is purely conditional, and that condition is being good and correct in the eyes of their chosen majority.

Conservatives arn't immune to this, not at all, but they tend to have more faith in larger truths. Being wrong or right is a passing thing. It's easy to get worked up, positive or negative, but a conservative can be on the wrong side of history and not start to hyperventilate. Win some, lose some, it's ideals and the longer term that matters more. Again, it's a generalization, but it means the right has a much longer, slower burning and harder to ignite fuse. However, when they decide to light up, they're willing to carry whatever cause they've taken for generations.

Lost the house, it sucks. Yeah, pretty worked up before that, but it's better to be excited then apathetic. Didn't lose by much, so that's something, and there's other positives. Throw on some band-aids, count the blessings, back to the long work.
