However when you think of the long term consequences of last night you'd have to conclude it was far far worse for the Democrats than the Republicans. For the Republicans, Trump basically has a unified party, those few that still opposed him have exited stage left. Last the Republicans had moderate losses in the House and a few Governorships and a better night than they thought in the Senate. Historically they did better than normal. Therefor the party will have no real justification or pressure to distance themselves from Trump as clearly he's not the evil Nazi bad orange man liability the Dems said he'd be for them.
In contrast the Dems got the bare minimum of what they needed not be humiliated last night, they took the house but even the likes of commies like Van Jones had to admit it was no wave. And most of the Progressives they've been pimping lost. Which leads them to a problem, they did a lot worse than they thought they would and both the Progressive side and the neoliberal side can point to the other as the reason it wasn't a blow out. So now you're likely going to see hijab wearing Muslim dykes from Minnesota and Horse faced commie harpies getting into screaming matches with the likes of Tim Kaine and Nancy Pelosi on the House floor for the next 2 years or so with both factions doing another Bernie Sanders VS Hillary in 2019
