In America, public schools in wealthy areas are equivalent to private schools, except for maybe those 55k a year boarding schools. Went to a private boarding school as a day student. Super competitive to get into. Costs $60k+/yr for the kids living there. I went for only a few thousand thanks to a combination of financial aid and academic merit scholarships.

You're basically setting your kid up for long term success as long as they're halfway smart and don't squander the opportunity. Going to a top-tier private school makes it pretty easy to get into an Ivy or top-tier college, given the college counseling and all the academic/athletic/extracurricular requirements in the four years basically just to pad your college application

Youth sports leagues are pretty great. I was so fucking happy when my eldest son asked me "dad, why are all the black players [in my youth soccer league] so mean?"
