The places in the world with the greatest ignorance always have strong religion. Religion explains through tradition what science wasn’t mature enough to yet. In the absence of science, religion gives reasonable perspective that usually seeks to perpetuate humanity and make people behave. It’s just becoming clearer that there isn’t magic in it, but simply the combined wisdom of millennia of humanity. But(!) with the vastly accelerated advancements of the past 1000 years, much of the wisdom of previous humanity is simply becoming outdated, and it’s obvious.
