Trump is absolutely right to, the more gets done the better. The alternative is getting obstructed for the next two years and losing the re-election because he did nothing. One of Trump's biggest strengths, at least according to him, is getting a good deal. He knows all the left wants to do is obstruct him and bitch about the investigation, so he's basically told them they have nothing to gain and everything to lose if they do. He's promised to counter with his own investigation, told them they will find nothing, and has retroactively put the blame on them for the next two years if they do so. He's working to get Pelosi as the speaker because she has a good chance at it and because he believes she's more interested in working with him than pressing the investigation. With this all being the case, it is in the house democrats' best interest to work on deals with him, which they most likely will. He's putting pressure on them, essentially forcing them down the safest path, and it's a path he's taken the initiative in hand-picking.

The Dems will need to give in on the budget, no matter what Trump demands. They're going to look terrible either way. Meanwhile, Trump and the Senate are going to go around reforming the judiciary and civil service, ending birthright citizenship, overturning "living document" activist precedents one after another, guarding the border, and deporting illegals by the million, and the House won't be able to do anything about it. Their base will be demoralized and Trump's base will be energized against them.
