As it stands now, the active number of threads is set to 200 which is way too many and I think one of the reason slide threads pop up in thousands on a monthly basis.
I think the number of active threads should be limited to [30,50] and I think that this will allow a more organized community, an easier way of participating in the threads, easier to moderate and filter slide threads.

How would reducing the number of active threads benefit shills, the lower the number of threads, more attention each one of them has.
The way it is now 60% of the threads are either mindless spam with no room for discussion or /general/ threads who repeat the same thing for months.

What if- instead of a thread dying from inactivity- it just goes into 'stealth mode'. Where people can still talk- but the activity level is too low to bump the thread. That way the shills would have a harder time disrupting good discussion because it wouldn't be so obvious who is talking when the board is slow.
user, let's say 10% of the current threads are slide thread. That means 20 threads, out of the 200 cap.
Those slide threads are going to be made regardless of the cap size. If you reduce it to 50, there are still 20 slide threads. Now slide threads are 40% of the threads.
Are you mathematically handicapped, a troll, or actually dumb?
Fewer threads will give each thread more attention, that's a given, now if said thread is meaningful, the increased attention should provide it with a basis for discussion, on the opposite, if said thread is spam it will be filtered out easier and not only by mods, but by users as well.
This might work as well, people forget that the reason this site exists is for discussion.

The threads will still go up and stay up long enough to do what a slide thread is meant to do: push threads off the board. Except now it happens faster, because the auto-delete is lower.
Just set up filters, there's always 50-80 threads that are the same repetitive dumb garbage. You can also filter out generals that you're not interested in.
If you're to lame to do that you should just gtfo.

Take a look at the catalog and tell me the system is working. Take a look and tell me how many threads are meant for discussion and something productive.
My point is to lower the number of threads so that the ones that allow discussion will get more attention, the way it is now, they just get washed away by the spam of threads with maximum 3 good ones making it out.
