This is retard teir logic. More people drown every year in the US than are killed by guns by several orders of magnitude. More people are killed in single murder situations every year in the US than are killed in mass shootings by several orders of magnitude. The symptoms of mass shootings are just more noticeable because media reports heavily on it. You would save far more lives by making swimming without a life jacket a fineable offense, than you would by reducing the number of mass shootings to zero. People give up safety for freedom all the fucking time, but when it comes to guns everyome freaks out because that is what the media wants. When in reality, you are far more likely to be killed almost any other way than by a gun. There are laws that could be enacted to prevent many traffic fatalities, reducing speed limits for example, but we would rather have the freedom to go fast than be safe.
Think of it like a patient going into the doctors office for the sniffles. The doctor inspects the patient and says, well the sniffles are due to the common cold. However, you have stage 4 lung cancer, and all of your organs are shutting down. The patient demands the doctor give him dayquil, and let him go home.
