Officials knew he was troubled, but turned a blind eye. Seems to fall in line with your friend’s situation. The disturbing part is how the media spins a narrative. I lived near Ferguson during that whole debacle, and how the media handled that one really pissed me off.... totally painted the wrong picture about Ferguson and the surrounding neighborhoods

Oh yeah I recently went back and looked at all the news coverage I could find about the chardon shooter and one news station was reporting on his troubled family life. Now don't get me wrong he did grow up in a broken home, but they don't actually care about the facts, only the narrative. In the video they show the home he supposedly grew up in. It was my home. It looks like absolute shit because his Father stopped caring about it for nearly ten years. He never lived in that house, since he was always with his Grandparents.
They also neglected to show his other Grandparents' house, the one he got the handgun from. The place is a Victorian era looking mansion. Went there every weekend to see his dad. By no means was he in a poor situation. I'm pretty sure he wasn't related to the grandparents he lived with since they had the same last name as his half brother who OD'd on heroin a few years before the shooting. They were mean as hell to him, but you wouldn't know that unless you were really close to him and nobody in his family is going to say that in an interview. Our whole lives we hung out every weekend plus Summers and other extended breaks. The week before the shooting was the first weekend I didn't go to visit with the rest of the family. He didn't want me to. Truth is though, normal people fight with lifelong friends from time to time too. There's not anything you can do to predict them all. Also I'd like to bring to everyone's attention that most shooters aren't retarded and would likely be able to pull of similar feats with homemade weapons. In fact you could easily kill 3 people with the school's sports equipment, let alone hammers, large knives, mixing chemicals, a car, sitting in the first seat on a bus ride home. He had an intelligent mind, I'm sure lots of other mass shooters did too. Not hard to build traps.
