For anyone curious as to why the cops didnt just nail him straight away the reason is that if a cop shoots someone in Australia, even if its blatantly obvious it was warranted the cop will be suspended from duty and be expected to pay his own legal costs while he spends the next 3 years in court being prosecuted for homicide. Australian Police, whilst trained and armed to kill if necessary are not given the same leeway when it comes to shootings. Every single action they take is scrutinized, even tasering or spraying someone will see you getting sued and the government wont back you. Only the Police union and your mates will. Since the royal commissions in the 90s against police corruption a whole generation of lawyers have become rich off prosecuting cops and defending criminals because the law now favours criminals in Australia.
Like in any scenario where the oppressed get granted equal rights they use it unfairly to benefit them. It was meant to stop Police corruption but all it did was make it so cops had to be lawyers aswell as cops and know every facet of every law which just isnt possible.
