The news was buried by election coverage. What does Jow Forums think of Dukakis, the 1988 Democratic nominee for president who lost to George H.W. Bush? Should Dukakis run again?
Michael Dukakis turned 85 last week

>Should Dukakis run again?
Cmon
Tank's for the memories, Duka. But that ship has already sailed.
Yeah and Ginsburg can be his running mate
I voted for him in my 2nd grade school vote. What a fool I was...
Is this the guy who cheated on his dying wife or something?
I voted for those eyebrows
You're thinking of John Edward's.
That was Edwards. Dukakis was the guy in a tank.
Sick quads. But completely wasted.
Yep. Checked.
>Is this the guy who cheated on his dying wife or something?
That was Newt Gingrich. He actually divorced her while she was in the hospital.
Kinda wonder how things would have turned out if that dork won instead of the middle east
If he'd won, would we have invaded the middle east?
No im saying the middle east won the election, and its been shit ever since. I wonder if things would be different now without Bush SR and the cascade of faggotry that's followed
He's the same age now that his running-mate Lloyd Bensten was when he died.
But why not run again? He's right around where the rest of the Democrat contenders are.
I'd love a return to pre-Clintonian presidential campaigns, which were generally about real issues, not just calling your opponent a RacistSexistBigotHomophobeTransphobe, and the press didn't have the condescending attitude that the people are all too stupid and backwards and must be protected from certain facts, and have others explained to them as if they were infants.
I get what you said.
Im just asking if we wouldve had the gulf war if hed been in office
We'd probably have a lot less faggotry, HW is the worst of the neocons
Cant even compare the party of mcgovern/Dukakis to what the democrats have become. Those guys, for as silly as some of the ideas they had, were rock solid patriots on issues of immigrantion, defense and ethics.
Today we have openly democrat candidates who want to open the border, re-settle millions of people and give them the right to vote. They openly flaunt that they have weaponized immigration policy to benefit them politically. Its a shame.
No democrat pre Lord Purple Drank in 2008 would of advocated that stance. It became mainstream because the media is weaponized also.
Dems are so far left and going further as the party becomes more gibsmedat orientated...soon you will hear calls to not just tax, but redistribute middle class, upper class wealth
Bush always wins out over du kakis.
I dont think we would have because Saddam was nothing more than a CIAnigger project for bush and the neocons. Him fucking with Kuwait was probably a direct favor.
I voted for him in '88.
>HW is the worst of the neocons
Fucking this. Bush I was not conservative in any respect except being "tough on crime", anti-abortion and anti-drug, but Bill Clinton fits two out of three of those. Bush I kicked mass immigration into overdrive with the 1990 immigration act, refused to do anything about border enforcement or illegal immigration (Clinton actually did more), shipped jobs overseas, spearheaded the "America as global cop" idea, turbocharged globalization, and just about everything else the neocons did.
Maybe Dukakis would have been better.
bump
Dukakis should run again for sure, he's had some time to think about where his campaign went wrong and how he could improve it. Now he's ready for another shot
Dukakis for all his flaws wasn't nearly as bad as most politicians nowadays, he was also pretty decent person despite some odd opinions
he'd be a better Democratic candidate than Hillary/Biden/fauxahontas
This is why he lost
Was he at McCain's funeral?
lol me too!
I came here to post this. Also, remember WIllie Horton?
This. But you must realize to create you must destroy.
>nobody turns 85
>news covered up
yeup - he should have jumped down that nigger's throat for suggesting such a thing
he's younger than Dianne Feinstein
like GHWB was any better
>pic
That's who I want for president. When Acosta disrespects him at the press conference, he would snatch out his eye.
I beg to differ. It's gone down the memory hole that Democrats voted against national defense at every opportunity - and that was when the Soviet Union was still fomenting revolutions for the purpose of creating client nations to plant their nuclear missiles. They opposed missile defense at every turn, not on cost or utilitarian grounds, but that it would be "overly provocative". Just like today they constantly criticized America and compared us unfavorably to fashionable third-world dictatorships. All while sowing the seeds of race hatred and envy that are blooming today.
Let's not forgot VP Dan Quayle who gave us the wisdom of "diversity is our strength"
Quayle is only 71. He's younger than Trump, Bush Jr., Kerry, Biden, Lieberman, Cheney, etc. He's only a month older than Mitt Romney. It's kind of weird how he vanished from politics after 1993.
Democrats have always lacked faith.
They wanted to stop births in the 60's because of over population
Screemed about the end of gas in the 70's
Deforistation in the 80's
And so on and so forth.
They are such nihilists they plan for the worst and consiquently produce the worst.
not any worse than voting for a bush
I was 18 when that hilarious shitshow went down, it was my first election to be able to vote in so I paid attention. It was amazing to watch. Little did I know how bad things would go from there regarding political discourse. Lel.
I know nothing about Dan Quayle except for the fact that that's the appellation your performance receives if you do really badly in a game of Civ
guys im about to pick up some depeche mode and guns n roses cassettes
Imagine the memes. This guy has cock in his name. Was he a Dem or a Rep?
Massachusetts Dem. The worst kind.
Dukakis 2020
GHW Bush was one of the most qualified presidents ever
What race is this guy? He doesn’t look white.
Technically speaking, George H.W. Bush can run for office again. I'd embrace seeing those two run again (after Trump completes his second term of course).
Dan Quayle is still alive so he could run as Bush's VP candidate and since Lloyd Bensten has since passed on, Joe Biden could run as VP in his place, and then we could have Dan Quayle and Joe Biden have a contest to see which of the two of them can generate the stupidest meme quotes.
If we're going to do that, Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale could run again as a team. Carter is still eligible for another term.
greek
That's a good point... I just don't know if it'd be more entertaining than a debate between Dan Quayle and Joe Biden. Though to Biden's credit he sets himself up more for memes when he gives speeches, he's a cunning and and aggressive debater, something Paul Ryan underestimated in 2012 (though I still believe Ryan won that debate).
