I've lived near them my whole life - never have I heard of anyone just getting accepted, ever. The "convincement" is basically convincing the entire Amish community and then some, that you WILL live like they do. They don't like outsiders

I live in an area with a lot of Mennonites. The young women are pretty but once they hit ~23 it they instantly turn into 300lb hatchet faced heifers.

You forgot one important thing: They are reproducing at a rate of almost 5x the amount of the Average non-Amish Christian in the west. So the question is whether EXISTENCE is more important than the issues you bring up. I think the facts speak for themselves. They may be rude, smelly and tax dodgers but at least they're going to exist 50 - 100 years from now. All these other religions are leading their followers off a demographic cliff.

Also, women stay home and cook, men go out and work, they have local schools, pray before and after meals, nobody is chasing fancy clothes or technologies, no stupid trends or idiot music, no captain roastie marvel, no degeneracy. It's like a bulletproof religion. All these other sects of Christianity are garbage in comparison if you step back and think about.

Think of those criticisms "muh avoiding taxes", fuck look at Christians in the west, they have tattoos, kiss Muslim feet and promote gay marriage and are basically leading their people into the trash can of religious history. Religion is on the sharp decline, demographics are on a sharp decline.

It's possible to join just extremely unlikely for someone to even want to and out of those few it's even fewer on how many would last. Being Amish is a bigger deal than joining most other religions because the religion becomes your life, not just a building you go to a day a week.

Yeah I looked into the Amish and Mennonites ect. While their family values and living a traditional life style is awesome the pacifist aspect completely destroys it for me. At minimum one must be prepared to defend himself and that might require physically removing someone. Even my Priest agrees with me on that.
