If it's Chromium, it's spying on you. It's simple.
Tor was originally going to be based on Chromium, but Google insists on using some of their binaries on Chromium and there's no way to find out what those are doing, what more suspicious is that these binaries seem to be polymorphic. You have to download the new version manually (just this once) from the website. It's an entirely different application from the old version. Much faster. You can actually have them both installed if you don't want to give up the old one yet.

ungoogled chromium if you want chrome, personally I use pale moon which is a fork of old firefox which means only the old types of extensions work with it.
