I don't know a lot more about it than you do, but the "Jannies" meme has been around for at least a few weeks now, possibly a month or so.

Honestly, I think it's just a couple of high-volume shitposters spamming it in different threads. Most of the board doesn't seem to give a fuck about this.

HOWEVER, since the news media is literally retarded when it comes to the interwebs I think it's being spammed in hopes that CNN or some other fuckwads will think that "Jannies" is some kind of new racial slur and start reporting on it, kind of like how they "discovered" that the "OK" hand sign was a White Power symbol by reading Jow Forums.
