Imagine the shitshow that would be happening if a company like WalMart announced they were going to build a second headquarters outside of Arkansas, held a nationwide search for a year and a half, only to ultimately pick the two most important and obvious destinations, but by holding a “search” they were able to fleece the local liberals for billions in incentives and demands.
I’m not saying one way or another, I’m just asking you to imagine the shitshow if WalMart had done this.
I’m sure the Washington post has been all over this
Sebastian Wright
That guy is rich because you fat fucks are too lazy to go out and buy shit yourselves.
Gabriel Johnson
How dare I value my time at the expense of local (((merchants)))?
Kevin Cooper
youtu.be/wLtLz4wQtOg this guy will rekt commies and lolbertarians at the same time
Cooper Morris
Okay. You guys are missing the big issue here. Atlanta was actually an option they were strongly leaning towards for a number of reasons >cheaper than many major metros >large workforce able to support the site >for being in the South not nearly as shitty as other areas (actually can get talent to move there) >FANTASTIC infrastructure for the project (some of the only honestly viable capacity outside of the Northeast, and West Coast) >Government in theory business friendly
Then Delta airlines told the NRA to fuck off because they wanted to, and Georgia republicans went all autism and fucked with Delta's tax breaks and shit. So Amazon saw this, and noped the fuck back to the Northeast. GG, inbreds, GG. Also Walmart already subsidizes their business model with the welfare system. So, you know, big companies fleecing us is an issue.
Gabriel Hill
Imagine the shitshow if Jeff Bezos were Jewish. The right would sperge out: but as long as it's a white man turning poor and working people into livestock and cattle, right-wingers are perfectly fine with it.
Michael Brown
These deals happen often, just recieve national attention. On paper they look good, but the reality is most companies cannot live to the deal long term. I have seen several companies end up reneging on the number of employees to be hired, because of market changes. Even had a chip manufacturer that never paid property taxes over 20 years, then shutdown because what they made became irrelevant and was to costly to retro fit the facility. So now a building that has a single purpose sits empty. Someone will have to eat the cost of demolishing it at some point.
Logan Campbell
I doubt it. NOVA will always win. Most US companies need to be close to the Federal government for lobbying reasons. Same with State capitals on a lesser level.
Nicholas Ortiz
Nah it was always gonna be DC and NYC, Amazon was just curious to see how much they could jew local politicians so Virginia and New York would have to at least match their offers.
Though Atlanta would've been a good site.
Wyatt Ward
>wanting Amazon progressive shits to flood your city
Fuck that. I live in Nashville, work for Amazon, and am fucking pissed we got picked as a hub. 5,000 transplant liberal faggots.
Elijah Johnson
So a single out of town merchant is better???
Cooper Parker
that's where you're wrong, kiddo amazon has to be split anti-trust now
Yes, if I get my shit cheaper and faster than from others, which generally I do. And I don't need to deal with minorities at retail stores. At least Bezos isn't a jew.
Bentley James
How is Amazon a monopoly? What can you buy from them that you can't get elsewhere?
Jace Taylor
I like my free shipping desu and fuck queens and fuck all of New York. I genuinely hate you pieces of shit.
Jayden Hughes
They don’t get it... don’t bother
Carson Reed
yeah i'm so sad that i'm not paying for amazon with my local taxes
fuck off kike
Andrew Bennett
The techie overlords win again >billions in subsidies >detailed information on hundreds of cities Amazon wins again! The only positive here is that the locations chosen are already deep blue and won’t be tainted by 50,000 more left wing techies
Gavin Lee
Shut up leaf. When Bernie was saying he wanted to fuck Bezos for basically putting his workers on welfare to make more bucks people here were saying it's one of those few sane things he's right about. Even boring maga civ-nats like tucker carlson are starting to realize this and call it out.
Sebastian Peterson
When will Trump start taxing harder internet sales
Kevin Hall
>for basically putting his workers on welfare You blame Amazon for the single moms with 5 kids who can't afford to get by on an unskilled labor job?
Nicholas Garcia
I have tried to order from Walmart instead, they are shit in comparison. They need to step up their game.
Austin Sanders
Atlanta dodged a bullet. You think they would have hired *from* Atlanta? Goddamn you are naive. It would have wrecked he infrastructure, too.
Liam Bailey
>implying single moms with 5 kids work and don't live on welfare user, I...
Brayden Johnson
Whatever happened to Walmart's plan to have their employees drop off customer packages on their way home from work? Haven't heard about that in a long time.
David Russell
Faggot, that was my point. Them being on welfare isn't Amazon's fault. They have no skills and lots of kids. Whoever they work for, they're going to be on welfare. Understand now, moron?
Joseph Evans
>implying people want Amazon in their city It’s a relief to not have them. These tech companies destroy local economies and turn beautiful places into shitholes.
Zachary Jenkins
People need to understand. Amazon makes almost all of its profit from AWS. Ecommerce side was like 680mil, which is nice. I actually work at one of their Sort facilities. Been there for a year and have learned some of the business side of the operations. They don't make money doing it. But Amazon has always been about making money over all, instead of being obsessed with each group or BU making a profit. I'm willing to bet Walmart tries to make the logistics part profitable, which is probably screwing themselves. One reason to come up with a ridiculous plan on having employees drop off packages on their way home. How do you even police that for quality control?
David Wilson
Pffft... if they put amazon in Atlanta the blacks employees would rob them blind...
Juan Baker
He’s just bitter that Abrams lost the election. A lot of “liberals” are trying to pretend they wanted Amazon in Atlanta and how it would have transformed Atlanta for the better, and they’re using this to ‘blame’ conservatives for ‘making Atlanta lose out’. Absolutely insane mental gymnastics.
Ayden Jenkins
What is aws
Carter Nguyen
corporations are now more powerful that governments and are viable alternate power structures to align ones self with
Somebody explain how they're making money just from pretending to be undecided on their new HQ location. Why would the cities give them anything before making sure their cash would make a difference?
Samuel Butler
The sheer task of making Amazon work is straining the whole existing logistical network of the USA itself, between UPS and USPS there's barely enough room in facilities and trucks and personnel to get everything delivered, it's no surprise walmart can't pull it off on its own either.
Jason Allen
The funny part is Cuomo literally came out and said the tax incentives were needed to "level the playing field" against states with lower taxes. I wonder if there was something else that could be done to level the playing field.
Jackson Stewart
bidding war on giving them incentives ofc
Juan Ortiz
They were never not going to end up in a coastal blue hell hole.
Anthony Evans
You have to waive property taxes because muh jobs.
People want to be in the wage cage that badly.
Isaiah Evans
Fun fact most every single Hollywood movie that gets made in Georgia has extras flown out from California.
Those kikes would rather fly people out than to hire locally
Evan Taylor
You know that amazon sells their shit in Portugal as well right?
Leo Johnson
Yes, but isn't only the highest bidder supposed to actually deliver? How do those incentives work?
Juan Butler
The bigheads overwhelming got told to fuck off by the store employees over the idea of having to work while on their way home
Nathaniel Murphy
Lol... real question... is aws where Russian bots come from?
Aiden King
it's pretty fucking important, you should probably know about it
Jackson Williams
I’m sure a lot of them did want Amazon there. It’s for the same reason why spics in California go on about how great they are because muh GDP when they’re living in filth and getting screwed by their corrupt, far left government everyday. They aren’t the ones contributing, they want to live vicariously. Fantasyland.
Connor Lopez
I put all my technical free time into Xbox...
Evan Baker
Nope. I blame them for paying their primarily white primarily male workers shit wages with shit benefits so that those individuals need to go on welfare in order to have children and buy a meh house or have their wives be forced to stay out of the home to get a job of her own so that she doesn't have the ability to have children or if she does she just ships them off to some daycare where they learn to speak better in the foreign language of their handlers rather than the native language of their biological parents. All the while, Bezos is wringing every penny he can to keep getting his head shot on the cover of time magazine.
Walmarts current strategy is doing as much work as possible with the least amount of people possible. >moving as much possible to day shifts in order to cut having to pay overnight pay >stores that were once having 10 to 20 stockers generally a day are now sometimes on a good day/night barely getting by with sometimes 5 or less >most stores cutting hours during the holiday season with few to no seasonal hires >getting ready to get rid of department managers and cut more management positions Once the next payraise happens to match or pass(lol) Targets current starting pay most employees will be lucky to pull 30 hours a week
Zachary Long
>it's pretty fucking important, you should probably know about it >doesn't make any attempt to explain it *France intensifies*
Gabriel Johnson
Only the winner pays, but it's much more than it would have been otherwise if other cities hadn't been bidding against them, classic bidding war tactics. >How do those incentives work? Literal bribery with taxpayer dollars on the part of the state of NY, just handing them a billion to do the deal, as well as tax breaks down the line. Fuckin highway robbery of the American people to work like a slave at one of Bezos' warehouses.
Jaxson Myers
I agree that it's their own fucking fault you failed abortion, but comparing Amazon employees to single moms with 5 kids is absolutely fucking retarded. Let me spell it out for you: Amazon employees are what we call "employed", meaning they have a fucking job. Nigger-tier single moms with 5 kids are usually UNemployed, meaning they DON'T have a fucking job. The outrage stems from the fact that even though these people have "jobs" (using the term loosely), they still qualify for welfare, and the only reason why this is a big deal is because Amazon isn't fast food. If it were a burger joint, people would say "no shit you're on welfare, you're an adult making minimum wage you giant fucking failure", but because it is the multi-million dollar company it is, everyone assumes they must be paying more than the bare minimum. Which I guess they aren't.
>tl;dr you don't know how to compare shit and should explore a house fire
They are either tax abatements (don't have to pay local property taxes) or sales tax refunds, or both. They may also receive "Economic Development" loans or loan guaranties. Cities do this to revitalize certain areas or to even attract businesses to begin with.
Oliver Davis
>primarily white primarily male workers citation needed How much do you think an unskilled labor job should pay? Amazon always paid higher than minimum wage, and now they pay minimum $15/hr. Advancement is pretty fast and easy there if you aren't a lazy shit. But why should an entry level unskilled worker make enough to support a family?
William Davis
Trump supported the Supreme Court’s ruling earlier this year that internet sales should be taxed like brick and mortar. It’s up to every state to implement it and you best believe they will jump on it. Normally I’m against new taxes but this isn’t a new tax it’s just putting digital and physical sales on the same level. Tech companies have had it way too easy for too long and drove a lot of physical stores out of business. This will also mean more tax revenue that was lost for a long time while internet sales taxes were in limbo for decades.
Logan Jackson
You are pants on head retarded. Lots of single moms work at Amazon warehouses. Also, see Why should an entry-level unskilled labor position pay enough to support a family?
Henry Gray
They're building a giant warehouse in Stone Mountain so we got the better deal.
Kevin Sanchez
That is their problem. Amazon understands you have to spend money to make money. But I'm not talking about the retail stores. On the logistics side, Amazon understands that is a money loser no matter what and that making it work is more important. Plus Walmart doesn't have AWS to reinvest billions back into the other parts of the business. Retailing and ecommerce is a thing margin business.
Nicholas Ross
this. he just creted a concierge service for products.
Joshua Gomez
>he thinks amazon is a place you shop The retail part of amazon is more like a side project. AWS is their real business.
Gabriel Campbell
Thanks... I was never a fan of cloud anything... just seems like putting your nuts in a vice. Amazon sucks balls in customer service robot answering machines... I couldn’t imagine dealing with a time crunch problem...
Blake Adams
Jeff Bezos is secretly the Boss of CIA.
Easton Morales
>be liberals >hur dur big buissness bad >give billionaire billion in subsidies >be liberals
Lucas Wood
>Amazon sucks balls in customer service robot answering machines I had an order that was missing a product. Just some bullshit cheap kitchen utensil. I used their web chat customer service and within 10 minutes they were overnighting me what was missing.
Ryder Bell
>Supporting taxation >Supporting your money going to for niggers, spics, illegals and jewish companies, boomers and useless gubmint
Parker Gonzalez
Not really... we have a couple of stores, so I see amazon where clueless suckers go to get raped
Thomas Murphy
Yes, my sort facility has tons of single moms. Actually some of the best workers, because they desperately need the money. The worst are the gays (24/7 socializers) and the young "my parents made me get a job" shitheads. As an Ambassador (supervisor), I waste more time baby sitting gays and shitheads then working. The rock core of the workers (10-20 people) that run the place work full time somewhere else. They bring that work ethic with them.
James Powell
That’s exciting
Levi Miller
We should be celebrating amazon for fleecing liberals.
Tyler Stewart
underrated
Jacob Price
Just saying, it seems you're just making up complaints without having any basis for them.
Jaxson Ortiz
Oh I see. This does sound underhanded. Another reason to hate Bezos. Could they have possibly been in cahoots with whoever runs NY?
Christian Evans
Yup, and it's all so politicians can say, "I created jobs!"
Carter Murphy
>But why should an entry level unskilled worker make enough to support a family? I agree with a lot of things you say but there will always be an underclass in every society. Right now, we have a decaying middle class paying for a growing underclass. You should know this because that’s how Amazon decided to raise their minimum wage.
Landon Gonzalez
I guess it's the same old shit in every country.
Gavin Lewis
True, but Amazon is better than most shit jobs for unskilled workers. As I said, you can advance to Tier III (which is actually only one step above entry level) and make $20+/hr pretty easily if you have a work ethic. If you have a college degree, you can move into management from there (I think they also let non-college degree people move up to management with a certain number of years of experience). They have a tuition program to help people get a degree. They give benefits to all employees on day 1. Not saying their warehouses are wonderful places to work, but there are far worse places paying less with no hope for advancement. I just don't see why people demonize Amazon so much.
>a tax break is a subsidy FUCKING ENOUGH YOU LEFTIST FUCKS
Evan Taylor
Its business 101. Make someones life easier and they pay for that
Jaxson Ross
Level 3 - Site Manager/Assistant Shift Manager
Requires a Bachelors or 2 years experience at Amazon. $19.50/hour. Not sure if they bumped that up along with the Level 1 pay.
I agree, if you have a good work ethic it is a good place to work. But it is brutal work. Bad Level 3-5s can make it a really bad place to work though. They need to offer more full time positions (even at Level 1) at the Sort facilities. One of the reasons for such high turnover.
Hudson Rogers
Tier III is not a management level in Amazon. That starts at 4. Tier III is known as a PA, and it requires no college education.
Charles Baker
They demonize Amazon over taking corporate subsides while also having to pay food subsides to some of their employees.
Cameron Morales
Single moms WITH 5 KIDS live on welfare and do not work (by a large majority, and much of that correlates with racial demographic). Single moms with 1 or 2 kids DO IN FACT work much more often than single moms with 4 or more, but that's not who we're talking about because your comparison was between Amazon employees on welfare and SINGLE MOMS WITH FIVE, count em', 5 KIDS. Your comparison was shit!
>Why should an entry-level unskilled labor position pay enough to support a family? Nigger what? At what fucking point in my posts, which were in plain, good ol' American English, did I allude to supporting such a butt-fuckingly stupid idea like that? I don't care what Amazon pays their employees. From what I understand, companies pay their employees based on things like level of responsibility, vitality to the company, level of demand for tasks, etc. If people don't want to be paid the wage given to them, they should seek gainful employment elsewhere. Likewise, if a company doesn't want a huge chunk of it's workforce to seek gainful employment elsewhere, the company should either find a way to increase incentive, or be able to replace said workforce quickly.
I don't get how two people speaking the same goddamn language can have so many misunderstandings between them. I'm going to break your dick off in my ass, homo.
Nicholas Gray
Silly goyim, lowering taxes for everyone would be bad for everyone because of lower tax revenues. Lowering taxes for specific politically-connected companies simply evens out the playing field for the ones who matter most, without hurting everyone.
Why do you goy always want to hurt everyone? Us chosen are feeling threatened by you
Lucas Kelly
Jesus Christ, kid, it took you that long to come up with such a spergy response? You're clearly some underaged faggot who neither works nor pays taxes, so I can only assume you're hear to just to cry about "the man".
Robert Rogers
You must work at a FC if you are using the term PA. That is my understanding that is the same as an Ambassador, which is still a Level 1. I don't know where you are getting Tier lll from. I know some PAs that transferred from FC to Sort. They use to call Level 3s Site Managers when I started, but now they introduce themselves as Assistant Shift Managers. I know several of the L3s and yes you have to have a degree or 2 years of experience at an Amazon warehouse. Perhaps things are a little different at FC. We have no Level 2s.
Adam Cruz
lol americans hate giving money to the poor so they give huge amounts to the rich. they don't even want the rich to pay their way
Gavin Robinson
PAs are all Tier 3 at my FC too.
White badge = tierless faggot Blue badge = T1 PA = T3 AM/Leads = T4 Ops = T5
Also we hire for T3s without 2 years or a degree. Level 2s do exist but it's a meme position, usually an assistant to HR or Learning.
Jaxon James
>if a company doesn't want a huge chunk of it's workforce to seek gainful employment elsewhere, the company should either find a way to increase incentive, or be able to replace said workforce quickly That’s not how the world works anymore. They don’t have to find incentives. A constant flow of third world immigration and free trade has been a god send to companies.
Levi Johnson
welfare capitalism for the rich 3 billion more on the way
>buy from other online retailer >it still an amazon item
Liam Campbell
fuck the free market is expensive isn't it?
Adam Phillips
maybe the capitalist model is so fragile it needs all the help in can get
Jordan Garcia
>great tax climate >low cost of living and business >can ship anywhere in the US by ground within a day >build data centers and warehouses >highly educated workforce with a healthy amount of unskilled labor to support >one of the fastest-growing venture capital cities in the US >Amazon decides to go to NYC instead >but its okay because they're just going to have to pay us more for their logistics operations instead feelsohioman.jpg
